How to Stay Motivated to Exercise: Tips for Staying Consistent in your Workout Plans

We all know that exercise is a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle therefore it is important to stay motivated to exercise. It is not enough for our bodies to just receive nutrition from food, we must balance it with exercise. Unfortunately, many of us start exercising but stop halfway due to a lack of understanding of its importance or a lack of interest in physical activities.

Therefore, to help us stay motivated to exercise, here are some tips that you can follow:

1. Take It Slow

Starting an exercising routine after a long break can be challenging, especially if you haven’t been active. Jumping into intense workouts, like running a 10 km marathon, can put a strain on your muscles. Therefore, for those of you who want to restart your exercise routine, do it slowly or gradually. For example, begin with a leisurely walk or jog around your neighbourhood for about 250 meters in the morning before your activities. As you build your endurance, you can gradually increase according to your abilities.

2. Make Exercise Fun

If you find yourself reluctant or lazy to exercise because it feels boring, find ways to make it fun! One way is to change our mindset towards workout itself. For example, if you don’t enjoy workouts like lifting weights, then taking part in outdoor activities like hiking can be a refreshing experience.

 If you think running is boring, then you can take your pet for a walk and run at the same time. Finding ways to make exercise enjoyable can make a big difference!

3. Determine Your Target or Goal

To make exercise more focused, it’s important to set clear targets or goals. For example, determine why you want to exercise regularly – whether it’s to lose weight, or achieve a specific body posture. By setting goals, such as exercising consistently for 12 days per month – (equivalent to 3 times a week) to lose weight, you can create a concrete plan. As a result, you can burn calories and help lose weight gradually.

4. Choose Your Favourite Music Playlist

Another way is by listening to music. It is common to see people jogging or at the gym while wearing headsets or headphones, listening to their favourite music to boost their motivation. To enhance your own workout experience, try creating a playlist of your favourite music. This can make exercising to make even more enjoyable.

5. Exercise With Friends

One way to make exercise more enjoyable is by exercising with your friends. Their presence can add enthusiasm and excitement to your workouts. Consider engaging in fun sports together, such as jogging or cycling. In fact, there are many sports communities host sports events that you can join, making exercise even more enjoyable.
